Planning efforts began in 1946 with Quincy’s first master plan. The city shifted over time from relying on outside consultants to building an in-house planning and development team, enabling more community-driven decision-making. The Planning and Development Department is committed to balancing growth with open space, ensuring Quincy remains a comfortable, healthy and attractive place to live and visit.
