While holiday observances generally do not impact garbage collection, there are a few holidays where collection does not occur. Those holidays are New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. On holiday observances when garbage collection does not occur, an alternate collection date will be announced with the official holiday observance public notice.
While Quincy Transit Lines operates its regular schedule on most holidays, there are several holidays where limited or no transit service is available. Regular transit service is available on the following holiday, with limited hours of operation: Christmas Eve. Limited transit service is available on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Quincy Transit Lines does not operate on the following holidays: Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. On holidays with Regular transit service, eight (8) fixed route buses will run normal route schedules, and five (5) paratransit buses will operate for on-demand passengers. (On Christmas Eve, Regular transit service will stop at 4:00 pm) On holidays with Limited transit service, two (2) fixed route buses will run on the weekend route schedule, and one (1) paratransit bus will operate for on-demand passengers. Each holiday observance public notice will include information regarding Quincy Transit Lines service.
