Chief Salrin 2025 (2).jpg Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Quincy Fire Department’s webpage. We hope you find the information here helpful, accessible, and easy to navigate.

Our department is staffed by 60 sworn firefighters, supported by an administrative team that includes myself, two Deputy Chiefs, and two civilian staff members. Firefighters operate on a 24/48 schedule, with each shift beginning at 7:00 AM and a minimum of 16 personnel on duty at all times to ensure rapid response and continuous coverage.

We operate as a basic life support (BLS), non-transport agency, with one advanced life support (ALS) Engine Company. In addition to fire suppression, our highly trained personnel provide a wide range of specialized services, including vehicle extrication, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and water rescue. Ongoing training and professional development ensure that we continue to deliver the highest standard of emergency services.

As Fire Chief, I place a strong focus on prevention. Our firefighters are actively involved in business inspections, hydrant testing, and public education events—all aimed at reducing risks and keeping our community safe.

I am incredibly proud to serve alongside one of the finest teams of firefighters in the state. Their commitment, professionalism, and pride in protecting the citizens of Quincy are unmatched. On behalf of the entire department, thank you for your continued support.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns—we are here to serve you.

Sincerely,
Steve Salrin
Fire Chief, City of Quincy, IL
