Personnel Committee

The purposes of the personnel committee are to:

  • (A)   Establish for the city a comprehensive system of personnel administration;
  • (B)   To establish guidelines and policies relative to personnel administration in the form of an employee handbook as provided hereinafter;
  • (C)   To coordinate personnel administration;
  • (D)   To assist officers and employees to better understand working conditions;
  • (E)   To help officers and employees to improve their competence in the performance of their duties; and
  • (F)   To serve as the basis for decision making by those involved in the administration of personnel for or on behalf of the city.

The Personnel Committee shall consist of four aldermen, two from each of the two political parties most represented on the City Council. The Director of Administrative Services and the Director of Human Resources shall serve as ex-officio, non-voting members. Terms are for two years.
