City's Bid Process

On purchases of $25,000 or more, the city requires the department to use the city's bid process. The bid process is initiated through the Purchasing department by either a Request for Bids (RFB), used when the city knows exactly what specifications it needs for the purchase; or a Request for Proposal (RFP), used when the exact specifications or process is unknown.

Participating in the city's bid process is simple. Businesses may register using the link below. After registering with the site, when a bid comes up, the vendor is automatically notified via email that there is a bid available on the City's website. If interested, the vendor can download any and all documents related to that particular bid from the website.  (Some road construction bid documents may only be available through the City's Engineering Department).

Most, but not all, RFB’s and RFP’s are posted in the Herald-Whig.

Register as a City of Quincy Vendor

BidNet provides vendors convenient online access to the city’s bid information. Registration is simple and there is no charge to register.

If you are currently a city vendor and registered in Vendor Registry, you will have received a registration email from BidNet. It is important that all new vendors register with BidNet as soon as possible as vendors not registered with BidNet will not be notified of new bid opportunities issued by the City of Quincy.

If you are currently a vendor in Vendor Registry and you did not receive the registration email from BidNet Direct, please visit: www.bidnetdirect.com/cityofquincy through BidNet Direct’s Illinois Purchasing Group and select “Limited” package for free agency bids. Registering or receiving notifications of matching solicitations and addenda is free and easy to complete.

Note: You do not need to register again if you are already registered as a vendor with BidNet Illinois Purchasing Group from another local agency.

If you require assistance with registering, please contact BidNet Direct’s Support at 1-800-835-4603, Option 2 or at support@bidnet.com.
