2023 Leadership Award
Lt. Brad Kendrick

This year’s recipient of the Leadership Award has always been a quiet leader within the department. He has used his time and talents to continue to educate himself and others around him. He has obtained his Paramedic license and is a certified Fire Service Instructor II. He is a member of our Technical Rescue Team and takes a lead role on the Haz-Mat team. For many years, this person educated our members on the use of the specialized equipment within the department as related to Hazardous Materials. He is a certified Fire Investigator and continues to further his education in this area. In addition, he has obtained his Advanced Fire Officer through the Illinois Fire Service Institute and Office of the State Fire Marshal.

This officer has used all this knowledge to continually train other members of our department. He offers knowledgeable advice on many aspects of the fire service and strives to be a better officer and leader. He is working towards to his Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration and still found the time to put together a class for the members of the department. This officer not only believes in professional development for himself and others but has put his boots on the ground and made it happen. He is currently teaching Basic Company Officer and Advanced Fire Officer to the members of our department. He put in the time and effort to have his curriculum vetted and certified by the State Fire Marshal Office and ensure that it meets all recognized criteria. This officer is an excellent example of leadership and we have no doubt that this person will continue to achieve success for many years to come.
