2022
2022 Leadership Award
Lt. Nate Pool

This year’s recipient of the Leadership Award has been a leader in the department, even before he became an officer. He has always been willing to help when necessary and is an excellent fireground officer. He has always placed a high emphasis on training and has been involved in training many firefighters at QFD and around the state. This person continues to set the standard of what it means to be a professional firefighter for many rookies.
Leaders are people who set the example for others to follow. This person is not afraid to get involved and make the changes that he feels are necessary for growth. On the fire ground, he knows what needs to be done and has the respect of all that work with him. He helped design and build props at the Quincy Regional Training Facility that benefitted the WIU practicum and the Quincy Fire Department. He is a CPR instructor, fire investigator and has achieved his Company Officer certification. We have heard Deputy Chief Dade comment that he probably leans on this person too much to get things done. That is a testament to the trust that we all have in this individual.
We firmly believe that he is constantly looking to improve himself and those around him. It is our pleasure to announce Lt. Nathan Pool as the 2022 recipient of the Quincy Fire Department Leadership award.
