2023 Firefighter of the Year
Firefighter Ryan Willingham

Our firefighter of the year is a person who appears to be a shyer member of the department but always has a lot to say. He started on the department in 2012 and has used his time to better himself and the department. He is knowledgeable in many areas of the fire service and continues to strive to teach his knowledge to others. He is fully capable of filling in as an acting officer and has the trust of peers and officers.

Our firefighter of the year has obtained his Paramedic license and Fire Instructor certification. He is a member of our Haz-Mat team and is a QFD boat operator. He is certified through the Illinois Fire Service Institute and the State Fire Marshal office as a Company Fire Officer, Fire/Arson Investigator and Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist. He has accepted all these roles with enthusiasm and uses all this knowledge as a member of our Public Education team. As a member of our Pub. Ed team, he has taken the lead with educating our community on fire prevention and safety and has been the lead organizer of the Quincy Fire Department public safety event during Fire Prevention week.

It is in recognition of all his hard work that we are proud to announce Ryan Willingham as the QFD Firefighter of the Year.
