The Quincy Housing Authority provides safe, decent and affordable housing for low-income individuals and families in Quincy, managing public housing (family, elderly/disabled) and the Section 8 voucher program. The QHA's duties and responsibilities include:

  • Managing public housing units (family, elderly, disabled) and administer the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program.
  • Inspecting and approving housing units to meet safety, sanitary and quality standards.
  • Working to improve the overall quality of life and economic stability in the Quincy area through partnerships and community initiatives.
  • Processing applications, determine eligibility, explain program rules, and manage rent calculations.
  • Providing resources for homeownership, resident activities, and community gardening.
  • Acquiring, constructing, operating, leasing and rehabilitating properties, along with managing funds.
  • Enforcing local ordinances, rules and regulations specifically on QHA property. 

The QHA is governed by a five-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor. At least one of the commissioners must be a current resident of the Quincy Housing Authority. Commissioners are appointed to a five-year term.
