2024 Firefighter of the Year
Firefighter Lee Carpenter

 

This year’s recipient of the Firefighter of the Year has been a long standing member of the department. He is a quiet, soft-spoken person but is well-respected and continuously gets the job done. He always shows up to work early with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He has recently been assigned an Apparatus Engineer position and has handled those extra duties with ease. In addition, this firefighter has always been the go-to person for hazardous materials and maintains our Level A suits. This firefighter recently took on the extra duty of Fire investigator and has no problem filling in as Acting Officer when called upon. In addition, he was part of a crew awarded a crew of the month for their efforts in providing life-saving care to a patient in cardiac arrest that recovered with no ill effects.

We don't know how this firefighter has the time for all these activities as he has 4 kids but his devotion to family extends to the department and the community. He has been a long-time car seat technician and Safe Kids Coalition Liaison for the department. We know these are not the flashiest positions but they protect some of the most vulnerable of our community. It is with great respect that we award the 2024 Firefighter of the Year to Firefighter Lee Carpenter.
