Proposed Emerald Ash Borer Plan

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE FOR COMMENTS
ON PROPOSED EMERALD ASH BORER PLAN

Notice is hereby given that the City of Quincy’s Tree Commission proposes to adopt an Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Plan to limit the spread of the non-native insect, Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis).  The public is invited to review the proposed plan at the public hearing to be held on May 21, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 730 Maine Street; Quincy, IL  62301.

The insect can be highly destructive to Quincy’s ash trees (Fraxinus species).  Therefore, it is in the best interest of the City of Quincy that a plan be established to limit its spread.  The purpose of this plan is to establish an Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation management plan for publicly owned trees that preserves selected high quality ash trees and reducing the impact on city resources by removing low quality ash trees prior to the arrival of the EAB.

The public has an opportunity to comment on the proposed plan by attending the meeting to be held May 21, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, 730 Maine Street; Quincy, IL  62301 and to view the proposed Emerald Ash Borer Plan online.
