DUTIES OF THE TREASURER

The city treasurer is responsible for collecting all money due the city, investing idle funds, and reporting to the city council the financial status of the city.

Money collected by the treasurer’s office is deposited daily in an interest bearing account. Idle funds are reviewed daily and invested according to the anticipated need.

Last year receipts totaled $53,258,195.00 for all funds, and interest totaled $1,576,219.06.

Currently money is invested in all ten banks within the city limits and at banks within Adams County. State statue limits the amount allowed at a bank with a formula based on the bank’s capital.
