Elder Service OfficerThe Quincy Police Department has been working with the West Central Area Agency on Aging since 1995 in an effort to provide specialized police personnel to meet the needs of senior citizens in the community. The department collaborated with the agency and other law enforcement agencies to establish the TRIAD and the Elder Watch programs and participates in the Agency's Senior Police Academy on an annual basis. In order to establish more consistent availability of police services for elders, the Quincy Police Department with the assistance of grant funds provided by the West Central Area Agency on Aging established in March of 2001 a full-time Elder Service Officer position working out of the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center located at 639 York. Quincy Police Investigator Kelly VanderMaiden is the department’s Elder Service Investigator. Her office is located in the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center in room number 206. She may be contacted by calling her office at 217/223-5700, extension 104 or by calling the Quincy Police Department. She may also be contacted through the Quincy/Adams County 9-1-1 emergency center. If it is a non-emergency call, call 217/222-9360. Investigator VanderMaiden investigates crime against the elderly. Crimes such as theft, burglary, robbery, accidents, elder abuse, neglect, financial exploitations, scams, telephone complaints, neighborhood disputes and peace disturbance just to name those most common.
