Citizen Police Academy

The Quincy Police Department believes its mission to serve the community can best be achieved if the citizens of the community are active participants with the Police Department in those efforts. Critical to the success of this shared responsibility are well-informed citizens who have an awareness of the mission, resources, practices, and services of the Police Department. To that end, the Quincy Police Department has established the Citizen Police Academy.

The Citizen Police Academy will meet one night a week for ten consecutive weeks. During these sessions, Police Department personnel will instruct citizens, who will learn in a hands-on atmosphere, about the organization, procedures, and services of the Police Department.

It is the hope of the Quincy Police Department that citizens will find the academy both informative and enjoyable and that the end result will be well informed citizens wanting to be involved in the department’s efforts to make Quincy a better and safer place to live and raise a family.

To be considered to attend the next Citizen Police Academy you must be at least 21 years of age, and either live, work or own property in the city of Quincy.  An Application, which can be obtained by clicking here (Adobe Acrobat Reader has to be installed on your computer to view this form), must be filled out and mailed to the Quincy Police Department Pro-Act Office, 110 South 8th Quincy Illinois 62301. A background check will be conducted on each applicant.
