Allied Waste Services has again been contracted by the City of Quincy to conduct the annual citywide cleanup. This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 24, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The City of Quincy offers this annual event to assist residents in disposing of unwanted items that are not typically collected with weekly residential service. This year's event will once again take place at the lot on Front and Delaware Streets. To access the disposal site, residents will use Payson Avenue starting at Sixth Street and heading west towards Front Street. The Quincy Police Department and employees of Allied Waste will direct vehicles to the disposal area. Residents will be required to show proof of address to gain access to the disposal area. To keep residents and employees safe during this busy event, residents are asked to cooperate with directions. As in the past, this event will be conducted without the use of City of Quincy employees. Although employees of Allied Waste will be on hand to help residents dispose of bulky or large items, residents will be directed to dispose of most of the smaller items themselves. Residents are urged not to overload bags and containers beyond their ability to manage. All residents and vehicles enter the disposal area at their own risk. Allied Waste Services and the City of Quincy will not be responsible for any damage to residents' vehicles during the unloading process. As always, residents are asked for their patience during the unloading process. Allied Waste's first priority is the safety of the public and its employees. Based on past history, Allied Waste expects to haul off more than 400 tons, or nearly 200 loads, of discarded waste, and run approximately 2,000 vehicles through the site during this 12-hour event, requiring more than 60 employees and 35 pieces of equipment to complete the job.
