City of Quincy ILLINOIS

The City of Quincy is divided into seven (7) wards. Each ward is served by two (2) Aldermen elected to serve a four (4) year term. The elections alternate every two (2) years having only one Aldermanic seat available at a time in the Ward.

The Aldermen are appointed by the Mayor to serve on various Commissions within City Government. Aldermen address a variety of concerns with citizens residing in their Ward such as necessary repairs to streets, alleys, sidewalks, garbage collection, and snow removal etc.

The regular meeting of the Council shall be held in the Council room each Monday in every month at the hour of 7:30 PM, provided that if the regular meeting falls on a legal holiday, the meeting shall take place on the next day at the same hour and place. The public is invited.
